In this "Repeated Pattern Workshop", we will design a simple graphic unit and use stencils to repeat and transfer it in order to create our own custom pattern.
Karolyn will give some suggestions on how to create a dynamic and intriguing overall pattern when designing our unit by sharing some of her own works as examples, and
discussing her own creative process.
After designing our base unit and choosing the colours, we proceed to cut our stencils and begin the exciting process of printing.

Instructor: Karolyn Morovati
Karolyn Morovati is an autodidact visual artist who creates and develops patterns using simple geometric forms on grids of varying scales, creating intricate and
contemplative visual rhythms. She is an Iranian-born artist who currently lives and works between Lisbon and Berlin.
Her practice explores perception, structure, and evolution through process. Each drawing begins with a hand-drafted grid—an intentional framework that invites discovery
rather than prescription. These forms emerge intuitively, evolving through repetition and variation. She is drawn to the quiet complexity that arises
from constraint—the way rhythm, symmetry, and difference can coexist within a single field.
