Paper-cut Art Workshop

Instructor: Yusuke Shimomura

Shimomura creates extremely intricate, delicate papercuts from his hand-drawn images. He states,“We are in the midst of technological advances that shake human values... I value the potential of manual paper-cutting and explore the limits of its expression” utilizing its peculiar shadows it creates. He seeks to evolve quiet, static papercuts into artwork that has dynamic energy.

Shimomura is a self-taught paper-cut artist based in Osaka, Japan. He’s been exhibiting since 2012 in Japan and abroad such as New York, Madrid, Wellington, and Paris. He has been teaching numerous workshops at various venues nationally and abroad.

"Seth & Greg" will play in the main gallery during the Caldas Late Night
